Duck Stamp Competition

Cathedral participated in the Mississippi Junior Duck Stamp
Competition and Design Program Art Competition again this year. Entries,
limited to North American species, must be a contestant’s original, hand
done creation. The competition is divided into four groups: K-3rd, 4th-6th,
7th-9th and 10th-12th. Cathedral students competed in Group IV, 10th – 12th
grades. Within each division, there are three ribbons awarded for each
first, second, third and honorable mention. Cathedral students walked away
with all awards in Group IV including Best of Show.
The students, along with their teacher, Mrs. Andrée Gamberi,
attended a reception at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Sciences in
Jackson, where all prize-winning artwork was on display. The Best of Show,
which is selected from among the 12 first place winning designs, will go
onto compete in the national competition.
